Oak Engage vs GreenOrbit: Product innovation and future roadmap

Oak is continuously evolving, with a strong product roadmap shaped by customer feedback and emerging workplace trends. Regular feature releases ensure customers benefit from the latest advancements in employee communication, analytics and engagement.

One G2 review highlights: “I like the developments that have been made in recent years to Oak Engage.”

The ClearBox report also notes that customers were overwhelmingly positive about the platform’s capabilities and appreciative of the platform’s ongoing evolution.

With a reduced focus on product development, innovation is no longer a core priority. This can create uncertainty for organisations that want a platform that grows alongside their needs. Businesses increasingly need tools that adapt to hybrid work, frontline communication and changing employee expectations.

Users describe GreenOrbits features as “cumbersome at times and tough to deal with since it is not super mainstream.”

Oak Engage vs GreenOrbit: Mobile-first experience

Oak is built mobile-first, making it ideal for deskless and frontline workers. The dedicated mobile app delivers a seamless experience with push notifications, personalised feeds and social features.

ClearBox Consulting said: “The mobile app is also a standout, offering functionality to meet the needs of mobile and frontline employees. Oak offers a strong mobile experience designed for flexibility and ease of use across different employee groups, particularly frontline workers. Multiple enrolment methods, configurable mobile experiences, and frontline specific tools make Oak a good choice for distributed environments.”

GreenOrbit doesn’t offer a mobile app. They do offer mobile optimisation for screens including tablets and smartphones which can be quite limiting.

With a growing percentage of employees working away from desks, a mobile app is no longer optional – it’s essential.

Oak Engage vs GreenOrbit: AI-powered communication and personalisation

Oak uses AI to enhance internal communications, including content generation, smarter targeting and automation that ensures employees receive relevant, personalised updates.

ClearBox Consulting said: “Organisations with multiple employee types, such as frontline workers or multiple locations, will appreciate the audience targeting and content tailoring options. Oak delivers strong value through its comprehensive feature set, flexible integrations, and well-regarded customer support.”

ClearBox also noted: “We particularly like the AI-generated weekly newsletter capability, providing automated summaries of recent content that’s personalised to the user. This is a time-saver for teams while also allowing for smarter, targeted content delivery and ensures that users don’t miss important updates.”

GreenOrbit doesn’t list AI or personalisation as features on their website. AI helps cut through information overload and ensures employees engage with the content that matters most to them. Businesses need to embrace AI to stay ahead of the curve and communicate effectively with their people. However, one thing we can’t forget is the element of being human. It’s vital to remember that it’s the people who make up a successful business. AI and automation is just a helping hand.

Oak Engage vs GreenOrbit: Integrations

Oak integrates seamlessly with your key workplace tools such as Microsoft 365, HR systems and operational platforms, creating a central hub for employees.

On integrations, Isaac Leach, Operations Manager at Pluralsight highlighted:  “By integrating with our key systems, Oak has empowered our people with one central hub. This has also allowed us to streamline access to multiple tools so our people have everything they need in one secure place.”

For GreenOrbit, integration capabilities are more limited in flexibility.

Oak Engage vs GreenOrbit: SharePoint integration

For many organisations, Microsoft SharePoint plays a central role in document management and internal content. The way your intranet integrates with SharePoint can significantly impact usability, governance and employee experience.

Oak Engage

Oak provides a strong and seamless integration with SharePoint, providing a connecting, governed and user-friendly experience across your intranet and mobile app:

  • Permission-aware integration

SharePoint permissions are fully respected – ensuring employees only see content they’re authorised to access

  • Federated (unified) search

Search across Oak, SharePoint and OneDrive simultaneously, helping employees find documents faster

  • Flexible content access
      • Access documents live from SharePoint (single source of truth)
      • Or sync content into Oak for frontline users without licenses (cost saving and ability to reach everyone)
      • Updates in SharePoint automatically reflect in Oak
  • User and directory sync

Sync users, groups and attributes via Microsoft Entra ID (SCIN), enabling accurate targeting and access control

  • Version control and compliance

Ensures employees always access the latest version of documents, reducing risk of outdated information

GreenOrbit

GreenOrbit supports SharePoint in a more limited, manual way:

  • SharePoint content is linked rather than integrated
  • Requires manual effort to manage and maintain content
  • No unified search experience across platforms
  • Limited ability to dynamically surface SharePoint content within the intranet
  • User data sync is manual

This can lead to a more fragmented experience, where employees need to switch systems and spend more time searching.

Oak Engage vs GreenOrbit: Customer support and partnership

Oak are consistently praised for their highly responsive, customer-first support model, with dedicated success teams that work with organisations to drive adoption, long-term value and work with them to achieve their objectives and goals. Oak has customers across the globe and is well positioned to support customers in Australia and the United States, as well as the UK.

Oak’s customer support has received excellent feedback on G2 and ClearBox: “The team we deal with at Oak are also excellent – they are very helpful and responsive and are always happy to help.”Oak works with the customer and prides itself on a consultative and partnership approach. One user said: “The Oak team has been such a great partner – they are always on hand to make sure we are getting the most out of the platform and continuously improve how we communicate.”

Oak also offers customers training with their Oak Academy, access to a 24/7 knowledge base and monthly webinars to make sure they’re getting the most out of their platform and to gain best practice from their peers.

Feedback on GreenOrbit is conflicting with one user saying that support staff is quick to respond and easy to work with. However another user says : “if you need support, you can forget about it.”

Oak Engage vs GreenOrbit: Implementation

Oak Engage offers a structured, hands-on implementation process designed to make switching intranets as smooth as possible. Our team is with you every step of the way, making the migration process simple, seamless and stress-free. From initial onboarding to launch, Oak’s dedicated team supports every stage – helping to migrate content, configure integrations and ensure your platform is ready for day one.

Five Guys were able to launch their mobile app in just 48 hours. Bastian Bauermeister, Head of Operations commented: “From experience service often drops off once the ‘sales’ and implementation of a system has come to an end. This has not been the case with Oak – they’ve been as enthusiastic and supportive of the project as they were from day one. Can’t speak highly enough of the service they’ve provided.”

For organisations moving from GreenOrbit, Oak provides tailored migration support, ensuring existing content, user data and structures are transferred efficiently with minimal disruptions to employees.

A GreenOrbit user highlights “the implementation team were amazing” but raises concerns about the pricing: “While the product was good for the price before, the cost now outweighs the benefits for our team.”

Switching intranets doesn’t have to be complex. With the right support and process in place, organisations can transition quickly and start seeing value sooner.

Oak Engage vs GreenOrbit: User experience and engagement

Oak delivers a modern, intuitive interface and is consistently praised for its ease of use. GreenOrbit is functional but the experience may feel more traditional compared to newer platforms.

Users love the ease of use of Oak Engage, enhancing their experience with quick page building: “The combination of ease of use, and high quality end product really set Oak Engage apart from other platforms”

“I appreciate how creative and user-friendly the platform is, feeling more like a modern, fresh social media platform rather than an old, stodgy system.” Another user described it as an “effortless content management, seamless user experience.”

Users of GreenOrbit describe the intranet as having a “very clean look” but it has also been described as “glitchy” and “cumbersome”. One review stated: “some of the backend features are hard to navigate.”

The final verdict: Oak Engage vs GreenOrbit

Choose Oak if you want to receive a supported, secure and future-focused intranet experience, with access to enhanced features and long-term product innovation. The data from G2 and ClearBox shows us that Oak Engage surpasses GreenOrbit with its quality of support, ease of use, mobile functionality and integrations. Oak is also clearly the front runner if you want to send relevant and personalised communications to a dispersed workforce.

While both platforms support internal communications, Oak Engage delivers a more connected, personalised and future-ready digital workplace.
