New Starter Q&A

Meet the latest addition to the Oak team, Emma Williamson. Emma has joined us as our PR Strategist working closely with our Marketing Team. We caught up with Emma this month so you can get to know a bit more about her. 

Emma Williamson from Oak Engage

What will your role be at Oak Engage? 

I will own Oak’s PR Strategy. My job is to make sure a positive reputation of Oak is always maintained and to drive brand awareness and reach. This can be through (but not limited to) developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and journalists, creating press releases and delivering creative campaigns.

What attracted you to Oak Engage? 

It’s such an exciting time to join Oak and the fact they’re being used by some of the biggest brands in the world was definitely a pull. Oak’s values also match mine and the fact that I would be given complete trust and control to implement a PR strategy from scratch was amazing - a perfect fit! Everyone at Oak is also so nice and made me feel so welcome!

What are you most excited about in your new role?

Apart from what I mentioned earlier, I’m working on a creative campaign for May which I’m really excited about. I can’t wait to see the coverage it generates.

Do you have any working from home tips to share? 

Sometimes it’s so hard to be productive 24/7, try to not put too much pressure on yourself. We’re all going through it at the minute so be kinder to yourself. During the pandemic, I’ve started gratitude journaling and it definitely helps me be more positive throughout the day. I also like having a nice space to work with flowers or a plant and try and drink lots of water. Things I do when I want to be more productive;

  1. Make a coffee/tea/water
  2. Make a list
  3. Light a candle
  4. Headphones in, music loud!

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself 

I once went on a training course with a cotton bud stuck in my ear all day. I had to go to A&E to get it taken out!

When we were allowed, at a gig - I love live music!
