How Oak has been changing comms and employee experience through the years
Oak’s story so far
Launched in 2017 with the mission to make communication and collaboration easier, we believed there was a better way to use technology to engage employees, cut through the noise and inspire action that puts people at the heart of organisations.
2017 – 2018
The launch
Oak Engage launched in 2017 with initial investment from Maven. This was the starting point of developing our award winning product, investing in and enhancing its capabilities and expanding our amazing team (marketers, developers, business development representatives, implementation team, sales, customer support… you get the jist). By the end of the year, we were already trusted by the likes of Aldi, Halfords and ITV.
2019 – 2020
A lifeline to businesses the year the world changed
In 2019, a new leadership team joined Oak and we opened our new HQ in the heart of Newcastle. We provided a lifeline to businesses like Five Guys, Miller Homes and Pizza express during the pandemic, when communication, reassurance and ensuring the safety of workers and the public became the most important thing. Our journey, our mindset has always been the same, putting people at the heart of organisations.
2021-2022
The nation’s best intranet
Our strong growth continued, we announced our latest fundraising round with the completion of a series A investment. We also doubled in size, creating over 50 jobs in total in our home in the North East. We officially partnered with big brands, NatWest and Sevita and we finished the year off being crowned Best Intranet at the Institute of Internal Communication Awards.
2023-now
Continued growth
With over 20 awards under our belt across internal communication and engagement, IC brilliance, digital impact, and more, Oak Engage’s transformational approach is going from strength to strength and we continue to partner with some of the biggest brands including Burger King, ScS and Pluralsight.
We’ve been recognised as ClearBox intranet choice winner for the past three consecutive years and leading product, cementing our place as a leader in the intranet and employee engagement industry.
Now with a team of 76, we upgraded our home in the heart of Newcastle to a bigger office to accommodate our ever-growing team.
2026 and beyond
We work with some of the UK’s biggest brands and have a growing global presence, particularly the US and Australia with our newfound partnership with Green Orbit. In the next year, we look to help more people across the globe with internal communication and employee engagement. Watch this space…
